Aromatherapy Nhs

Music, aromatherapy and tens machines during labour, experiences?

Are there any mummy’s out there that have tried or are going to try music, aromatherapy and tens machines during labour to relax/relieve pain? I would like to hear about some experiences with this and if any of them helped…especially if you had an NHS birth.

Thanks in advance.
Ahhh I feel for you on the back labour!!

NHS is National Health Service, its the free health care system in the UK which most UK citizens use for maternity.
Thanks you two. I think I will definitely try a tens machine, anything that is a distraction is great by me!

I had a TENS for both of mine and I loved it. Granted, it won’t do a thing when you’re at the pushing stage but I found it a great help early on – even if just for distraction.
One thing I noticed second time round, my instincts were to keep still when a contraction hit, but if I moved, even slightly, it really helped. I ended up just slightly rocking back and forth during a contraction and it helped me a lot.
I went to hospital with my TENS still attached, although my second birth was so fast it was still attached by the birth (I was actually still half dressed in my everyday clothes by the birth). I donated it to the ward as we don’t plan on having any more.
