Is there an essential oil besides Patchouli that can counteract the smell of Marijuana on a person?
I have a very sensitive nose! A client of mine (who I like very much as a person and who I don’t want to offend and possibly lose as a client) often comes in smelling of marijuana. Either marijuana or cigarette smoke.
As a massage therapist, I work very closely with the person of course. It’s obvious that it’s not just smoke from the clothes, which would explain why I get a whiff when she walks into my office. The smell of whatever is smoked is actually emanating from the body.
I need some suggestions for getting through sessions when the smoked substance is particularly strong and sometimes nauseating. I have an array of aromatherapy essential oils at my disposal but I do not like patchouli at all. (I know that’s the traditional hippy cover for the pot smell.)
Not only is working with the smell annoying, I’m a bit worried about another client coming in afterward and smelling pot! I guess I should get a lamp berger for that…
Lavender is the universal essential oil for so many issues. To me, it is not just an odor issue that you have. Lavender is such a fresh smell and great for the skin, mind, and spirit. Essential oils are small enough molecularly that they actually penetrate the skin. Why not add some to your massage oil or cream? That way, you are receiving the benefit of the Lavender along with your client. Also there is a bath oil called Serene that is a great scent for this also.
