Do i need to buy oils for aromatherapy?
Cant i just smell the herbs (rosemary, basil..etc) in my garden?
What herb would be good for procrastination, concentration and motivation?
Is there a good memory herb too? (for exams and general study)
No, you wouldnt need to buy the essential oils (but oh! they are nice). Now, with herbs, dired ones become more potent, the oils in them just get more concentrated. For example, when making a tea, ussually you would need two times the amount of fresh herbs than you would dried herbs (ussually, but not always).
So, one way to use the actual herbs for aromatherapy, is to tie a sprig of the dried herb from the garden to a thin piece of ribbon, and dangle it in the bath water. If fresh, use more sprigs. Crushing them a bit works better because it helps them to release their scent. Tie the other end of the ribbon to the tub faucet. The secent will release into the air…
You can also use a metal tea ball and fill that up with fresh or dry herbs and add to the water.
Or, you can make your own potpourris, simmer them on the stove, etc.

I’ve even read about people who brought in sprigs of rosemary tucked behind their ear (or the essential oil added to extra light virgin olive oil and inhaled/applied to skin) right before and during test taking to help them remember. Or, crush some fresh rosemary add it to oil, and put it on. carry a vial with you and maybe sniff it right before the test…. Or during, unless your teacher/professor finds you weird…
As for motivation and concentration, I’m not really sure. When I do searches for it, every site seems to bring up “secret blends” of several different essential oils they mixed together. They dont say which ones are in it. However, I would say that perhaps for procrastination and motivation, to use a citrusy scent like lemon, grapfruit, bergamot. Those ones are “pick-me-ups” since they are said to be uplifting.

P.S. I do know that rosemary should NOT be used by people with epilepsy. Since it causes more brain activity, it can induce seizures.
